Thalapathy Vijay has been offered the post of a Deputy Chief Minister by AIADMK if he allies with them, Tamil media reports have claimed. Vijay established a party named Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in February 2024. The party will be in the race for the TN Assembly elections of 2026.
As per the latest buzz, Vijay is not ready to settle for DCM. He wants to become a Chief Minister. He has rumouredly told AIADMK that he would ally with them only if he is made the CM for 2.5 years. In that case, he should get to contest 50% of the seats, while the other half will be contested by AIADMK.
But many feel Vijay shouldn't target the CM seat in the short term. "Assuming Vijay's real motivation is to become CM in the long term, then the best course of action for him would be to settle for DCM in the short term. He doesn't have the party structure or ideology to sustain in the opposition for 6 years - which is what will happen if he decides to go alone," wrote Sai Arav, a social media user.
If Vijay strikes a deal with the AIADMK successfully, chances are that the DMK might get defeated.
