Siddharth says he didn't become a big movie star because...

Actor Siddharth delivered solid hits in the mid-2000s in Telugu. After Boys, he was seen in Bommarillu and Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana. He got to work with big names like Mani Ratnam and also do Rang De Basanti in Hindi. How come Siddharth failed to cash in on this initial momentum later on? Why did other Telugu and Tamil heroes overtake him in the 2010s?

One of the reasons, as per Siddharth, is that he rejected problematic scripts that required him to be disrespectful to his female counterparts.

“I used to get scripts that required me to slap women, do item songs, pinch somebody's navel, and tell a woman what she should do, where she should go, etc. I rejected them outright. I might have become a far bigger movie star today if I was differently wired," he said recently.

Siddharth feels that he instinctively did what he liked and the same has paid off rich dividends in terms of the respect he commands. "Your kids can watch my films from 15 years ago. It is such a gratifying feeling," he added.

Siddharth was most recently seen in Miss You and Indian 2.
