When Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in an apartment in 2020, everyone was shocked. The Hindi film fraternity couldn't recover from the resulting online and media trials for more than a year. Everyone in the industry was blamed for SSR dying by suicide. The nepotistic culture in the film industry was villainized for his death. Conspiracy theories were floated. To this day, millions in the country believe that it was not a suicide but a murder. SSR's girlfriend, actress Rhea Chakraborty, was questioned.
Five years after SSR's demise, someone wants to make a film on the relationship between the late actor and Rhea Chakraborty. Going by the screenwriter Rumi Jaffery's words, the film will be a love story bringing out the emotions of Rhea. "Rhea would be on his side, trying to calm him down,” Rumi Jaffery has been quoted as saying.
Following Sushant Singh Rajput's demise, a drugs case was taken up by the Narcotics Control Bureau, India's highest anti-drugs agency. In 2022, the NCB named Rhea Chakraborty in its charge sheet, saying that she procured contraband for Sushant.
But the film won't face any issues, most probably, because the CBI filed a closure report in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case more than a year ago. The CBI concluded that his death was a suicide and ruled out any foul play. This officially cleared Rhea Chakraborty and her family of any involvement in his death or abetment to suicide.
