Kollywood actor actor Srikanth, also known as Sriram in Telugu cinema, was arrested by Chennai police on Monday in connection with a drug abuse case. Following a detailed interrogation, he was arrested for alleged links with a former AIADMK functionary named Prasad, who was previously arrested during a police investigation into a pub brawl in Chennai.
The police are investigating potential connections to other Tamil film industry figures. If some celebrities from Kollywood test positive for drugs, Kollywood will have its own drugs case.
In 2017, a major drugs scandal rocked the Telugu film industry, with names like Puri Jagannadh being questioned for hours. Eventually, all of them were given a clean chit.
