Speaking at an event held on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse, actor Vijay Deverakonda said that he was shocked to learn about the enormity of the drugs problem in Telangana.
"Years ago, when I was shooting for a movie in Vizag, a cop asked me to give a video byte urging youths to stay away from drugs. At that time, I didn't know that it was a major problem that warranted an awareness campaign. The other day, I sat down with a few highly-placed cops to learn about the extent of the problem. What they told me truly shocked me. This is a problem we all need to speak about and wage a campaign against," Vijay said, adding health, money and self-respect should be everyone's priority.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that Vijay Devrakonda hails from a village that was near his hometown. "Just as I have come up in politics to reach this position, Vijay too has made it big in the film industry. His commitment and determination should inspire youngsters," the CM added.
