In 2011, Vennela Kishore's career had a game-changing movie in the form of Dookudu. The blockbuster featured him as Mahesh Babu's colleague. Getting to do a full-fledged role in a superstar movie was a Godsend for the then-buddin comedian.
In a recent interview, Kishore revealed that director Sree Vaitla was advised against casting him. "Two aides of Vaitla garu advised him not to cast me for two reasons. One is my slang. The other one is that I was too weighty. Vaitla garu told me to undergo liposuction. He even offered to pay the entire bill. But I was too scared of that procedure. I begged him to give me two months' time. By the time of the shoot, my weight was still the same. After the first schedule, the director had a change of mind and told me I don't have to shed my weight because I was looking funny the way I was," Vennela Kishore said.
