Baahubali: The Eternal War is really not at risk

The underperformance of Baahubali: The Epic has surprised many who had expected it to become the first one-billion movie among re-releases. Had the movie had a dream run at the box-office, producer Shobu Yarlagadda and the many high-profile distributors across territories would have laughed their way to the bank in a major way.

The less-than-spectacular performance of The Epic, however, doesn't put Baahubali: The Eternal War in jeopardy. The 3D animation film's budget is Rs 120 Cr, as per Rajamouli. Since everyone exaggerates budgets at least to a limited extent, it is safe to assume that the movie's budget is not more than Rs 90-100 Cr. Some or the other streaming platform must have assured that sum, without which the budget wouldn't have gone to that level. Even in the worst case scenario, The Eternal War, which will be marketed as an original with a mythological-fantasy story, will make Rs 50-70 Cr at the box office.
