After the release of Prithviraj Sukumaran's poster from SSMB29, Netizens are once again accusing SS Rajamouli of being a copycat. Bollywood movie buffs are particularly vocal. Allegations of copied or heavily inspired scenes in Baahubali are numerous, with many viral videos comparing specific shots in the Prabhas-starrer to Western films.

Climbing a high wall using an enemy chain/human shield; The flying/clustered arrows shot; The hero catching a flying arrow (Bhallaladeva); Bhallaladeva's chariot with rotating blades; The infant Baahubali being held up; The massive falling statue of Bhallaladeva; The hero swinging on vines/tree branches after a fall are some of the stretches in Baahubali that are obviously inspired by or copied from Hollywood movies.

"In many of the alleged instances, the visual composition and camera angle of the shot are strikingly similar to those found in Hollywood blockbusters," an analyst once stated.

However, Rajamouli's fans back him, saying that he achieves great feats in lesser budgets compared to Hollywood. "Rajamouli has taken inspiration from so many sources - games, period films, animations and what not. To be able to string them into a screenplay and story is in itself a wonder," a movie buff wrote.
