Santhana Prapthirasthu is like a tasty home-made meal: Tharun Bhascker

Director and actor Tharun Bhascker plays a quirky character named Jack Reddy in Santhana Prapthirasthu. He runs a funeral services business. Despite seeing dead bodies up and close, he has been unable to rise above petty social identities like caste. The family entertainer, centered on the issue of male infertility, is headlined by Vikranth and Chandini Chowdary.

While shooting for his portions, the Pelli Choopulu maker was skeptical. "But after watching the film, all my doubts disappeared. It’s a decent movie that flows smoothly with fun moments throughout," he says. Jack Reddy has a potential spin-off.

The Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi maker makes a mention of Ayushmann Khurrana’s Bollywood films in terms of how Santhana Prapthirasthu doesn't abandon its emotional core at the altar of entertainment. Describing the movie as a "good home-cooked Telugu meal", he says that it is not overly dramatic. Many characters in the film "may appear tough on the outside but are soft-hearted inside", Tharun Bhascker says.

Santhana Prapthirasthu is directed by Sanjeev Reddy. It releases in theatres on November 14.
