Kiran Abbavaram says 'insulting' Tamil hero was not right

The other day, when Tamil actor Pradeep Ranganathan was in Hyderabad to promote his upcoming film Dude, a Telugu film journalist commented that he was not "hero material" and yet has made it in the industry. Immediately, senior Kollywood actor R Sarathkumar grabbed the mic from Pradeep's hand and remarked that everyone was hero material; he was seemingly upset. The video clip has since gone viral, with many Kollywood pages on social media saying that Pradeep was slighted by the journalist.

On Saturday, speaking at the trailer launch event of K-Ramp, Kiran Abbavaram supported Pradeep. He told the journalist that it was not right on her part to belittle an actor from another State when he was here to promote his movie. "I didn't like it," he added.

The journalist, on her part, clarified that she didn't mean to insult Pradeep but only intended to appreciate his rise from a humble background, adding that Kiran too shares a similar career trajectory.

Dude and K-Ramp are both in the Diwali release. The former releases on October 17, while the latter releases on October 18.
