OG and Kantara: Chapter 1 will be released in theatres within a week. Pawan Kalyan's movie is scheduled to be released in theatres on September 25, while Rishab Shetty's movie will come out on October 2.
The two movies are separated by genres but united by their terrific commercial stamina. As per trade reports, between them, they are expected to earn a box office share of nearly Rs 250 Cr in the Telugu States.
While OG enjoying humongous craze in trade circles is not surprising, Kantara: Chapter 1's calibre has surprised trade observers. It is believed that Hombale Films is pocketing as much as Rs 100 Cr by way of Telugu rights on Kantara! This is huge, considering that Rishab Shetty is not a Telugu star, nor is he a proven superstar.
Kantara: Chapter 1 is coming out in theatres just a week after OG, which lakhs of cine-goers would have watched in theatres by the time Kantara is released. How much appetite the family audience will have for Kantara after spending on OG is left to be seen.
