Mirai, Kishkindhapuri: After dual flops, will it be twin hits?

Ghaati and Madharaasi turned out to be dual flops of September in Telugu. Anushka Shetty's Ghaati has been a disaster, with distributors reportedly suffering terrible losses. Madharaasi, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Rukmini Vasanth, might have stood better chances had it not been for Little Hearts' complete domination. The failure of these two films has dented the image of their directors - Krish Jagarlamudi and AR Murugadoss.

Just a week later, Box Office has on offer the possibility of twin hits. Both Mirai and Kishkindhapuri are being billed by their makers as new-age. Mirai is a superhero action drama, whose advance bookings are on a roll. The film's trailer, its genre, and Teja Sajja's growing currency are working in its favour. It's possible that People Media Factory will be looking at record openings for a Tier-3 hero.

Kishkindhapuri is a horror-mystery thriller starring Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas and Anupama Parameswaran. "If the audience is distracted from using their smartphone while watching the movie, I will quit the industry forever," Bellamkonda stated in an interview. This is quite an audacious utterance by any standard. In a day's time, we will know if Bellamkonda will be scoring his first clear BO hit since Rakshasudu. If Kishkindhapuri becomes a clean hit, its sequel will be made.
