Naga Shaurya about 'Rangabali', his choices and more

Naga Shaurya's 'Rangabali' is slated to be released in theatres on July 7. The action drama, suggests Shaurya, is strong on entertainment and action. Starring debutante actress Yukti Thareja as the heroine, the film is helmed by Pawan Basamsetti. "Yukti is tall. She is a very good dancer. She will go places," says the 'Phalana Abbayi Phalana Ammayi' actor. Pawan CH's music and score will also impress the audience, he adds. The 'Lakshya' and 'Varudu Kaavalenu' actor further says that 'Rangabali' is about reconnecting with our roots. The film builds an emotion around our place of birth.

'Rangabali' has nothing to do with Vangaveeti Ranga. The story is entirely something else. I let Pawan do his work at his own pace. I didn't want him to take pressure.

The audience need to be told with confidence what to expect from a movie. That's what I am doing this time. I started promotions for 'Rangabali' only after watching the first copy. With many films, there is no clarity till the release date. CG works, etc. keep on being done till the last minute.

With some of my previous flops, some things didn't go write. I tried to point out those flaws privately. An actor expects his director to deliver the product in tune with his narration. If it doesn't work out, the fault doesn't always lie with the director. A lot of factors determine the outcome.

I have worked with many first-time directors - in fact, 18 of them. I always go by my instinct. Success or failure depends on 'time', which is what determines what happens in the film industry. I will always be dedicated to the industry even if it comes to me working as a light-boy. A process is eked out. Even then, things don't always work out as planned at times.

The scenario is competitive. They are acting so extraordinarily. They are dancing superbly. I have to do whatever it takes to be in the race. I have to exert myself physically even if it means risking injuries. I don't like people expecting me to constrict my choices. You have to go out of your way to push your limits. That's what the industry has done. Otherwise, there wouldn't have been a 'Baahubali', a 'KGF', an 'Okkadu', or an 'RRR'.

We (referring to himself and his mother) have set up a production house because we are mad about films. No matter what, it is impossible to recover losses made because of flops. Despite knowing this, we floated Ira Creations. That's only because of our madness!

The parody interview with Satya and me was self-censored. We removed some portions after we were told that the promo might have offended a couple of individuals. We didn't expect the promo to go viral.
