Daaku Maharaaj, coming with a running time of 2 hours and 27 minutes, heads to theatres this January 12. Starring Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead and Bobby Deol as his antagonist, the film is directed by Bobby Kolli. In this interview, the filmmaker talks about the movie's highlights. He also sheds light on portraying the Akhanda actor in a new way.

Daaku Maharaaj is about the transformation of Sitaram into the titular character. While the narration is sincere, the execution is technically superior. There are no over-the-top sequences. I would say that the treatment is grounded in realism.

There is a line in the film alluding to fans who can go to any extent for him. If you travel with Balayya Babu, you will become his fan. The liberty he gave me and my team is why the action scenes and the visuals of Daaku Maharaaj are incredible. There is a reason he is called the God of Masses.

I got to work with the best team and that's why I am emotional after completing the movie. The cinematography and I worked intimately, we argued with each other. Venkat anna (fight master) has done three films before with Balayya Babu. He participated in script discussions. The action scenes are going to create a sandstorm in theatres. Thaman's score is in such a way that we want others to emulate his style. Once Balayya Babu likes a story, he trusts his director completely.

I have go to team up with Balakrishna garu and Chiranjeevi garu back to back, immediately after Waltair Veerayya. Their discipline towards the craft is incredible. I observed that they both are workaholics. They always prioritize the well-being of their producers. They go to any extent to complete the shoot in time, come what may.

As against loud portrayals, Balakrishna garu's performance in Daaku Maharaaj is going to be subtle. I am a fan of his performance in Simha. He nailed it in the doctor's role. In my film, too, he is measured.

S Naga Vamsi is a passionate producer. When it comes to technical quality, he never settles for anything less than the best. He roped in cinematographer Vijay Karthik Kannan for that reason.

Bobby Deol is a very humble person. He's extremely punctual and gave a fabulous performance in the film, keeping it subtle yet impactful. Shraddha Srinath and Pragya Jaiswal have done a great job. Urvashi Rautela has a role in the film and she is not there just for the song (Dabidi Dabidi). While she brought glamour, Shraddha's character is performance-centric. Chandini Chowdary has an important role.
