Maniratnam, known for his breezy and emotional romanctic movies like ‘Mouna Raagam’, ‘Geetranjali’, ‘Sakhi’, etc., this time totally failed to impress the audience back home with his latest flick ‘Kadal/Kadali’. The recently released movie was the greatest box-office bomb and the distributors incurred heavy losses. Therefore, the worried distributors forced their way into Mani’s residence in Chennai on Saturday to recoup their losses. They demanded that Mani has to repay them the losses they have incurred due to film’s box-office failure. As the situation went worst the police had to interfere to bring the situation under control. After sending the attackers from the spot the police ensured safety and security to Maniratnam’s family members and his residence.
Maniratnam introduced Karthik’s son Gautham Karthik and Radha’s younger daughter Thulasi in ‘Kadal/Kadali’. Arvind Swamy, who made his acting debut through Maniratnam’s ‘Dalapathy’ and got good break with ‘Roja’ and ‘Bombay’, also started his second innings through Mani’s film only. Apart from him, the film also has action king Arjun and Lakshmi Manchu in key roles. Top technicians like A R Rahman, Rajiv Menen, A Srikar Prasad have worked for this film.
