Biopic of 'Amarajeevi' Potti Sreeramulu announced

A biopic of Potti Sreeramulu, the great freedom fighter and revolutionary, who undertook a hunger strike for 56 days in support of having a separate state for Andhra Pradesh, was announced today by Kuchipudi Art Pictures. K Rajendra Prasad is producing the movie. Directed by young filmmaker Kanmani, the film will chronicle the crucial developments in the life of Sreeramulu.

To be shot in the Telugu States and Tamil Nadu, a song recording took place today. "Written by Dr. Venigalla Rambabu, the inspirational song is currently being composed. Saluri Vasu Rao garu is composing it," the makers said. On Monday, the granddaughters of Sreeramulu, Smt. Revathi and Smt. Anuradha, spoke at a presser.

Speaking on the occasion, the director thanked the producer for believing in him. "Any film needs good technicians. Even more so in the case of a biopic of this kind. This is a period drama and there is also the element of mystery. To this day, the greatness of Potti Sreeramulu is mentioned in history," he said.

The producer added that he has known director Kanmani for many years. "I was part of his debut feature film, 'Naa Oopiri'. More details of the project will be announced soon," he added.

Music is by Vasu Rao Saluri. Dialogues and songs are by Dr. Venigalla Rambabu. Editing is by Praveen KL. Mallikarjun Naragani is the cinematographer. DY Satyanarayana is taking care of art direction.
