'Palasa 1978', which hit the cinemas in March 2020, has been selected for screening at the PK Rosy Film Festival, to be held in Chennai from April 9-11. In this regard, director Karuna Kumar has expressed his happiness.
Speaking about the same, Kumar said that Kollywood filmmaker Pa.Ranjith floated the Vaanam Arts Festival in 2018 to celebrate art works that deal with Dalit lives and stories from Dalit lives. "April is being celebrated as the Dalit month. Marking Ambedkar's birthday on April 14, Dalit literature and cinema will be celebrated. I am proud that 'Palasa 1978' is going to be screened this year," Kumar added.
Kumar is in the league of filmmakers such as Vetrimaaran, Ranjith and Marathi filmmaker Nagaraj Manjule in doing films that speak for Dalits.
