'Vaarasudu': Dil Raju saved the film at last minute

'Vaarasudu' may not be going great guns in Telugu, but its Tamil version 'Varisu' is a hit. Kollywood media is reporting that the film's running time would have crossed 190 minutes but for some crucial last-minute changes made to the final edit version. The film's final running time came to 170 minutes after several scenes involving Khushbu Sundar and others were removed.

Khushbu was named as a key cast member. But the film doesn't feature a single scene involving her. As per the buzz in Chennai, her footage to the tune of 17 minutes was chopped off in toto. Not a single scene made it to the final version. She had scenes with both Thalapathy Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna, among others.

Sarathkumar and Prakash Raj are rivals in the film. And their rivalry dates back to their college days. The flashback didn't make it to the final version.

A post-climax scene involving Prakash Raj and Sarathkumar was also removed, apparently.

In the run-up to the film's theatrical release, Vamsi Paidipally and SS Thaman spent sleepless nights. They hardly slept for two hours each night for ten days in a row. Looks like the aforementioned crucial last-minute changes left them with so much work at hand.

Producer Dil Raju's call to remove those scenes might have saved the film. Even at 170 minutes, the running time has been described as too lengthy.
