'Raayan' (Tamil), starring Dhanush, is slated to hit the cinemas on July 26. The action thriller is written and directed by Dhanush himself.
The film's Telugu-dubbed version will be released simultaneously with the Tamil original. The other day, its unexciting Trailer was released.
This is yet another Telugu-dubbed Tamil movie that is carrying nil buzz. Lately, the Telugu audience have lost faith in Tamil movies unless they come from new-age filmmakers like Lokesh Kanagaraj. Much blame has to be laid at the doorsteps of the Tamil nativity. Many of their films, even when they have a decent storyline, are spoiled by old-school sensibilities. Their brand of humour, romance and action has become pretty dull.
Big-ticket misfires like 'Indian 2' have also played a role in the dwindling trust. The Telugu audience are mighty miffed. There are occasional sparks like 'Mahaveerudu' and 'Maharaja' from Kollywood. But they are more an exception than the norm.
