'Amaran' Soars High, But Where's the Love for Sai Pallavi?

'Amaran' may be nearing the Rs 300 Cr mark at the box office, but at least a section of Sai Pallavi's fans have a complaint against the makers of the blockbuster. They are disappointed that their favorite heroine isn't being properly recognized for her stardom in post-release promotions. In the latest poster put out by the team of 'Amaran', only Sivakarthikeyan is seen.

"For a film industry that claims it is progressive, our folks need to take a hard look at success posters. The total erasure of the female presence is a constant. Remember it happening during 'Rowdy Baby', now with 'Amaran'. You saw the film through Indu's eyes, her love. Do better," Subha Jayanagaraja, a journalist, wrote.

Sai Pallavi is the primary reason 'Amaran' minted excellent openings in the Telugu market. Had Indhu been played by someone else, the film would have earned less than Rs 20 Cr in Telugu. Thanks to her stardom, it is inching closer towards Rs 40 Cr. Sai Pallavi's presence in well-made films makes a lot of difference. 'Virata Parvam' flopped because it was absolutely boring.
