Tollywood's re-release trend continues its box office surge, with Arya 2 now joining the elite Rs 5 crore club (although the claim is disputed). This marks the seventh film to achieve this feat, following the massive success of Pawan Kalyan's Kushi, Jr NTR's Simhadri, Mahesh Babu's Businessman, Murari 4K, Gabbar Singh, and Salaar.
The industry has been witnessing a resurgence of old hits. However, not every big-ticket re-release has witnessed success. In recent months, the re-release of Aditya 369, Karthi's Yuganiki Okkadu, Chennakesava Reddy, Billa, and Desamuduru have witnessed mixed results.
Okkadu, Pokiri, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, Jalsa, Orange, and Ee Nagaraniki Emaindhi have witnessed success in varying degrees.
Netizens have disputed the collections of some of the above re-releases. It is doubtful if Allu Arjun's Arya 2 has indeed entered the Rs 5 Cr club. Some estimates put Rajamouli-directed Simhadri in the sub-5 CR category.
