In Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, Aishwarya Rajesh's character is a mother to four kids. The character of Bhagyam was offered to three other heroines before it landed in her lap.
The three heroines declined the role only because they didn't want to play a mother, that too, to four kids. The actresses must be well-known (their names haven't been revealed), given that they were to be paired up with a star hero like Venkatesh.
It is telling that actresses, even in their 30s, are reluctant to play mothers for fear of being typecast. Mrunal Thakur essayed the role of a mother in Hi Nanna without reservations. Only a few actresses are ready to do that in this day and age. Aishwarya Rajesh playing a mother is gutsy because she did so in a self-aware silly comedy. Playing a mother in an emotional drama like Hi Nanna would have been less of a difficult choice for Mrunal.
Meanwhile, Sankranthiki Vasthunam is running in theatres. It was released in theatres on January 14.
