Venkatesh is fond of speaking like a saint. He attributes the humongous success of his films like Sankranthiki Vasthunam to the divine. Whatever the Universe sends him, he will gladly receive it. He has no desires, no plans. Success and stupendous success, failures and ultra-failures are equal in his eyes.
Many years ago, Venky made an attempt to play Swami Vivekananda on screen. The project never took off. Since he strongly practices spirituality in life, playing a saint onscreen would be the right thing.
Venky must do soulful movies that are bereft of typical commercial values. If they don't make money, so be it. Walk the talk!
Venkatesh's family commands huge resources at their family studio. It's regrettable that such an actor is yet to act in non-commercial movies whose themes revolve around education, innovation, and even political issues. Since Venky is in his 60s, this is the time for him to balance commercial movies with message-laden ones in his filmography. Even if some of them don't work in theatres, their impact in terms on discourse will be huge. There is no guarantee that commercial movies work. Nevertheless, he acts in them.
On the one hand, Venky fanboys for Ramana Maharshi. On the other hand, he acts in profane shows like Rana Naidu. Fair enough. You don't have to become Sattvik overnight. But why not use your clout to act in Rana Naidu as well as Ramana Maharshi?
