Director Sukumar has stated he would support his daughter, Sukriti Veni, should she choose to pursue acting. "As someone who has been a part of the film industry, I can't object to her becoming an actress. This industry is like a temple to me," the director of 'Pushpa 2' said.
Usually, film families and celebrities in India's non-Bollywood industries actively encourage their sons to become actors but prevent their daughters from chasing their acting dreams. The daughter of a veteran Telugu superstar faced objections from his fans when she wanted to pursue her acting dreams more than two decades ago. She did an indie film which won awards but she didn't play glamorous roles later on.
Sukumar said that he doesn't let her daughter step into the sets of his films because he might get distracted by the presence of his kid. "Otherwise, I have nothing against Sukriti doing films," the filmmaker clarified.
Sukriti awaits the release of her acting debut as a child artist soon. Gandhi Tatha Chettu, a festival circuit film with limited box office potential, will head to theatres on January 24.
