Recently, former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni became Mai Mamta Nand Giri. She was made the Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhada at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.
The news is that Rishi Ajay Das, the founder of Kinnar Akhada, has expelled her from the Akhada, citing that she comes with a criminal history. "By giving such a person the title of Mahamandaleshwar, what kind of guru are you offering to Sanatan Dharma? This is a question of ethics," the Rishi wrote in a statement.
In the year 2016, Mamta Kulkarn was named as one of the accused in a drugs case. She was accused of "supplying ephedrine for illicit manufacture of methamphetamine to a Rs 2,000 crore international drug racket". Her partner Vicky Goswami allegedly attended a meeting in an international drug ring in Kenya in January 2016, reports stated at that time.
