In the month of May, media reports claimed that Lokesh Kanagaraj's remuneration for Coolie is Rs 50 Cr.
So, what is the truth? In his latest interview, Lokesh stated that the reports are very much true. He was paid Rs 25 Cr for Leo, his previous movie. Based on the BO result of that movie, he doubled his fee. Sun Pictures was happy to pay him that much.
Lokesh is not the highest-paid filmmaker in Kollywood. He lags Atlee by Rs 30 Cr, if speculative media reports are telling the truth. Atlee's remuneration for the Allu Arjun movie is Rs 80 Cr.
Coolie's budget is Rs 350 Cr. Superstar Rajinikanth is said to have pocketed Rs 150 Cr. Lokesh refused to comment on the fee received by the actor.
Coolie has music by Anirudh Ravichander. The Rajinikanth-starrer is scheduled to hit the cinemas on August 14. It will lock horns with War 2, starring Jr NTR and Hrithik Roshan.
