In the late 1990s, Pawan Kalyan was rigorously trained in martial arts by an exponent named Shihan Hussaini. Lately, Shihan has been undergoing treatment for cancer. He has been diagnosed with aplastic anaemia.
In a recent interview, Shihan urged Pawan Kalyan to take over his martial arts training centre so that it doesn't become defunct in future. He is happy for Pawan for making it big in the field of politics. "I know he is the Deputy CM of Andhra Pradesh. There was a time when he used to be my student. He would upkeep the training centre and also personally bring a cup of tea to me," Shihan said, recalling his association with Power Star. Shihan also happened to train Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay.
Pawan Kalyan's martial arts-gifted agility helped him a great deal in carving a certain macho image in his initial years as an actor. Films like Thammudu, Kushi and Johnny wouldn't have been possible without such training.
