When it comes to receiving astronomical remunerations, it is said that nobody can match SS Rajamouli's track record. Among the star filmmakers out there, the competition is for non-Rajamouli records. Prashanth Neel, Sukumar and Sandeep Reddy Vanga are said to be among the next four highest-paid Southern directors (not necessarily in that order). Director Shankar has vacated this space with the back-to-back failures of Indian 2 and Game Changer.
Two more directors have joined the race. As per recent media reports, Atlee has been offered a heavenly Rs 80 Cr as fee for his movie starring Allu Arjun. Sun Pictures gave him the big figure keeping his track record in view.
Lokesh Kanagaraj's remuneration for Coolie is reported to be Rs 50 Cr. The Rajinikanth-starrer is scheduled to hit the cinemas on August 14.
So, Lokesh lags Atlee by Rs 30 Cr if speculative media reports are telling the truth. This is believable, considering that the rumoured budget of Coolie is Rs 350 Cr while that of the Allu Arjun-Atlee movie is much more.
After SS Rajamouli, Neel, Sukumar, Sandeep Vanga, Atlee and Lokesh Kanagaraj are among the highest-paid filmmakers in the country.
