Sony LIV is gearing up for a dynamic 2025, with a content slate that promises to cater to every taste, from gripping political dramas and investigative thrillers to light-hearted family sagas and a packed schedule of live sporting events. The platform is focusing on building out its successful franchises while also introducing a host of new, original stories across multiple languages.
Hindi Originals: The Return of Fan Favorites
The most anticipated news for many is the return of beloved franchises. Hansal Mehta is set to bring another installment of his acclaimed "Scam" series with Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga, revisiting one of India's most controversial business stories. Huma Qureshi returns as Rani Bharti in the fourth season of the political saga, Maharani 4, which is set to take the political battle from Bihar to Delhi. The endearing Mishra family is also coming back with more humor and heart in Gullak 5, while the crime thriller Undekhi will be back for its fourth season, diving deeper into crime and power struggles.
The slate also features exciting new Hindi originals. Raveena Tandon will lead the political drama Dynasty – Moh Nishtha Satta, playing a Prime Minister's daughter who is thrust into power. Another notable addition is Real Kashmir Football Club, a story inspired by the remarkable journey of two men who built Kashmir’s first professional football team, starring Manav Kaul and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub. Sudhir Mishra's Summer of 76 will transport viewers to the post-independence Emergency era in a coming-of-age drama.
A Rich Line-Up in Regional Languages
Sony LIV is expanding its regional content, with a diverse slate of shows in Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. In Bengali, Jazz City is a period drama set against the 1970–71 Liberation War. Marathi thriller fans can look forward to a darker second season of Manvat Murders 2.
The Tamil slate is particularly robust, featuring Prabhudeva's long-awaited OTT debut in Sethurajan IPS, where he plays a cop investigating a politically sensitive murder case. Other Tamil originals include the 1940s scandal-driven thriller The Madras Mystery – Fall of a Superstar, a tense crime thriller Kuttram Purindhavan – The Guilty One, and a rural murder mystery Theevinai Pottru.
In Telugu, Trisha Krishnan returns in the sequel Brinda 2, while Jagapathi Babu stars in the high-stakes drama Black & White. The Malayalam line-up includes Blindfold, Undertrial, Eyes, and the thought-provoking narrative of Unfair.
Unscripted Entertainment and Live Sports
Beyond scripted content, Sony LIV is bringing back popular unscripted shows, including the high-stakes reality of Million Dollar Listing India 2, the culinary brilliance of MasterChef India, and the business reality show Shark Tank India 5.
For sports enthusiasts, the platform is set to be a hub for live action. The 2025 line-up includes major sporting spectacles like the Asia Cup 2025, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, The Australian Open, and UFC, along with bilateral cricket series such as the England tour of New Zealand and India tour of New Zealand. The combination of premium scripted and unscripted content with a strong sports offering solidifies Sony LIV's position as a major player in the streaming landscape.
