Why Pawan Kalyan must commission meaningful films as producer

With They Call Him OG, a violent movie with A (adults only) rating, Pawan Kalyan is back in the game. The movie wouldn't have registered massive openings had it not been for the super-violent content and showcasing its hero as a ruthless man. Ustaad Bhagat Singh, his next and one of the final movies as an actor, will be an action entertainer with token lines about Sanatana Dharma.

What next for Pawan? He is likely going to produce movies on PK Creative Works in the coming years. Probably, Trivikram Srinivas will be helping him out.

With OG and Ustaad Bhagat Singh, he has only played to the gallery. Bheemla Nayak was a remake with no social message. In much of his career, Pawan has made do with gloating about "message-oriented" songs from movies like Badri and Kushi.

As the leader of a ruling party, as a Deputy Chief Minister of an important state, it is pertinent that Pawan Kalyan doesn't make only commercial movies as a producer. It will be interesting to see the kind of choices he will be making as a producer. If his young banner makes crime thrillers, bloody action dramas or run-of-the-mill commercial entertainers with little to no socio-political relevance, it will reflect poorly on Pawan. He will be just another money-chasing producer if he does that. Since he claims to be an avid reader who has read hundreds of books and someone who is clued into the social realities of Indian society, he must commission meaningful movies at PK Creative Works. If not, he should stay away from cinema.
