'Family Star' will be released in theatres on April 5. Its pre-release event was held on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, director Parasuram Petla said that the film is going to be a beautiful experience. "After 'Geetha Govindam', this is my first collaboration with Vijay Deverakonda. I was determined to team up with him only if I was equipped with a strong story. Vijay's body language, and the way he imbibed his character Govardhan are stellar. The character will be remembered for a long time because he is like someone in our families. Only Indhu could have played Mrunal Thakur. The pairing will be talked about for long. I worked as an AD on 'Parugu', which too was produced by Sri Venkateswara Creations. It was my wish to work with the banner as a director. 'Family Star' has fulfilled that desire. Every dialogue in this film is straight from my heart and every scene is straight from my life," he added.

Producer Dil Raju said, "Parasuram has adorned the film with beautiful characterizations and emotions. This film must be watched with your whole family this Summer. Vijay is going to make you smile, he gets slapped around by his heroine, and there is so much more to his character. Girls are going to love him like crazy. All songs in the film are story-driven. After you watch 'Family Star', so many of you are going to come out identifying themselves as family stars!"

Mrunal said, "I am extremely glad. You have accepted me as a Telugu ammayi. 'Sita Ramam', 'Hi Nanna' and now 'Family Star'. I thank Parasuram sir for not giving up on me. Fifteen days into this project, I knew that nobody can play Indhu like me. I love everything about this film."

Vijay said, "Every film I have done has taught me something or the other. You all see dreams, you go through ups and downs, you see those who encourage you and those who drag you down. When we set out with an aim, we should be confident. Put your chins up. Be happy and chase your dreams. 'Family Star' is a crucial stop in my career. While doing this film, I was reminded of my father's sacrifices. When we were hard-pressed for money, my mother and my grandmother instilled strength in us. There are heroes like this in every middle-class family. Doing this film was a blessing. Parasuram is the heart and soul of the film. Any award that I might win for my performance will be at his feet."
