'Family Star' collapses: Naga Chaitanya dodges the bullet!

After 'Geetha Govindam', director Parasuram firmed up a project with Naga Chaitanya as the hero. The pandemic came and, all of a sudden, Mahesh Babu's film was announced. In other words, Parasuram abandoned the 'Bangarraju' actor and made 'Sarkaru Vaari Paata' with Mahesh. At that time, speculations were rife that Parasuram and Chay developed differences because the director didn't keep his word.

In an interview last year, the 'Thank You' actor laid bare his differences with Parasuram. "It is a waste of time to talk about him (Parasuram). He wasted my time," Chay said.

With 'Family Star' collapsing at the box-office (it is the biggest flop in Vijay Deverakonda's career in terms of return on investment for distributors), Netizens are saying that Chay had dodged the 'Family Star' bullet. "It is safe to assume that the story was first offered to Chay. Thankfully, 'Sarkaru Vaari Paata' saved him but VD hasn't been lucky," a Twitter user opined.

There is a contrarian opinion. "'Family Star' would have flopped even if Chay had done it. But it's not like Chay has been doing decent cinema otherwise. 'Custody' and 'Thank You' were unbearable," a cine-goer said.
