The Trailer for 'Manamey' may not have made it explicit, but the film is a musical family entertainer. Hesham Abdul Wahab of 'Hi Nanna' fame has composed sixteen songs in all. Yes, 16! Nothing less... Sharwanand and Krithi Shetty play a charming married couple in this film where bringing up a baby in a foreign land makes it a rollercoaster experience for them.
Directed by Sriram Adittya of 'Bhale Manchi Roju' and 'Hero' fame, the film is going to be released in theatres on June 7. At an event today in Hyderabad, Sharwanand minced no words when he stated that he believes the film could surpass 'Shatamanam Bhavathi', his biggest commercial hit to date. The in-form actor misses the action at the theatres. "It has been two years since I haven't been seen in a movie. 'Manamey' is going to be magical. You are going to have a blast in theatres," he said.
It is instructive that the trailer has this dominant theme of a young couple trying to find their feet. While Sharwanand's character comes across as a man-child, Krithi Shetty's Subhadra is assertive throughout. Knowing how family dramas play out in Telugu cinema, the male lead could well be someone who has made a sacrifice without the heroine's knowledge.
Set in London, the film is expected to have situational comedy. Featuring an ensemble cast (read Vennela Kishore, Rahul Ravindran, Rahul Ramakrishna, Shiva Kandukuri and Sudharshan), 'Manamey' also has Seerat Kapoor and Ayesha Khan in different roles.
Produced by TG Vishwa Prasad, the film seems to be a perfect crowd-puller.
