It is known that 'Thandel' is Naga Chaitanya's biggest film in terms of budget and scale. Sai Pallavi is its heroine. Directed by Chandoo Mondeti of 'Karthikeya 2' fame, the project has been bankrolled by Bunny Vas of GA2 Pictures. Geetha Arts is presenting it.
In a twist of sorts, Amazon Prime Video is doing a film with a similar premise and probably convergent plot points. 'Arabia Kadali' is its title. Satya Dev of Chiranjeevi's 'GodFather' and 'Thimmarusu' fame is its hero. Directed by Surya Kumar and co-starring Anandhi, the film is touted to be a suspenseful drama series that revolves around a "group of fishermen from rival villages who inadvertently trespass into international waters and find themselves imprisoned in a foreign jail."
In 'Thandel', too, Chay and many fellow fishermen from the Telugu land accidentally trespass into Pakistani waters. They are imprisoned by Pakistani authorities and tortured.
