The box office fate of Thandel will be decisive for director Chandoo Mondeti. In his career spanning more than ten years, he has had only two hits: Karthikeya and Karthikeya 2. After the latter, he got to meet with many big names from Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi cinema industries. In the end, he did Thandel.
If Thandel becomes a box office hit, Chandoo's transition to a crossover Telugu-Tamil movie will become easier. Actor Suriya is keen to collaborate with him. After the failure of Kanguva last year, Suriya would count on Chandoo to deliver a pan-Indian movie for him if Thandel becomes a blockbuster.
Chandoo Mondeti is also scheduled to do Karthikeya 3 with Nikhil Siddhartha in the lead. Nikhil is currently doing Swayambhu. He will also take up The India House.
Thandel stars Naga Chatainya and Sai Pallavi in lead roles. The film will hit the cinemas on February 7.
