"We have been discussing Dilruba extensively," Kiran Abbavaram began saying at a pre-release press meet on Thursday about his Holi theatrical release. He explained that the first 30 minutes of the movie are "filled with fun," but then the story "transitions into a deeper narrative." He emphasized, "This movie is not just about love; it also explores themes of friendship, father-son, and father-daughter relationships." He highlighted a unique aspect, saying that "one unique aspect of Dilruba is the storyline where an ex-lover returns to the protagonist's life and attempts to reunite him with his current love."
Kiran pointed out that it's a "refreshing take because we don't see the ex-lover and the current lover as enemies." He further described the film as having a "feel-good element," adding that it "shows that it's possible to maintain a friendship even with an ex."
The actor said that he has matured as a performer after doing Dilruba. "I worked very hard for the long fight scene in the interval, which was shot over eight days in the hot summer of Mangalore. I am sure you will enjoy that sequence," the KA actor said.
The makers stated that the "content and screenplay" of Dilruba follow a commercial format with magical moments.
Director Viswa Karun said, "After watching the content, director Puri Jagannadh called me, as did director Meher Ramesh, both praising the film. I’m grateful for their recognition. Kiran garu will be seen in a new light in this film." Incidentally, the movie has a few references to Puri's podcasts.
Cinematographer Daniel Vishwas focused on the film's artistic potential, praising the director's vision and Kiran's acting ability. He also noted the film's commercial elements, suggesting it will be a crowd-pleaser. Production Designer Sudheer emphasized the film's high production quality and Kiran's fresh portrayal. He further described the film as a "youthful, full-of-love commercial entertainer" with action, music, and strong performances.
