Nikhil Devadula stars as the teen protagonist in the suspense-filled emotional thriller titled Ghatikachalam. Brought to you by writer and producer MC Raju of Oasis Entertainment, the film is all set to be released worldwide by the Maruthi-SKN duo. Amar Kamepalli is the director. The film is based on the experiences of a second-year MBBS student from Hyderabad. The boy's family is known to MC Raju personally.
Speaking at the trailer launch event today, SKN said, "Content alone matters. Everyone has brought their experience to this film, which sucks the viewer into its world ten minutes after it begins. Many talents choose the horror genre to narrate interesting stories. This film has to be watched only in theatres. Ghatikachalam won't disappoint you."
Nikhil said that he feels fortunate to have got to do 70 movies so far. "In terms of effort, I approached Ghatikachalam as my first movie. The technical team's efforts were indispensable. The teaser was liked by one and all. I hope you are going to love the trailer, too. My co-artists and I have worked really hard," Nikhil added.
Director Amar said that a high-standard technical output has been achieved to do justice to the novel plot. "Fortunately, I got to work with some very good technicians. At first, cinematographer SS Manoj declined to do the film because he didn't like the quoted budget. A day later, he came back, saying the story had been haunting him. The lighting, framing and other aspects are wonderful. Music director Favio G Cuccurullo was inspired to give the right kind of music that suits the mood of the subject. The score is international-level. He has worked on Hollywood movies. Since this is quite an intense movie, I was unsure whether Maruthi garu and SKN garu would prefer to acquire our movie. But they liked it totally. They are ensuring a major release. They are inclined to platform films belonging to varying genres. I have learned that Hollywood is being saved by horror movies. Recently, a show named Adolescence was released on a streaming giant. I was surprised that some of the scenes we had included in Ghatikachalam are there in that show. The issues faced by teens across cultures are similar. This film has been made as a cautionary tale with a universal message," the director said.
Writer Srinivas Malkar thanked SKN and Maruthi for coming forward to release the movie in theatres. He added that director Amar and him had brainstormed a lot before zeroing in on Ghatikachalam. "Since this is a real story, we didn't confine ourselves to four walls while writing the script. This is a content-based movie that was written in casual settings while sipping tea, for example," the writer added.
