Victory Venkatesh is all set to add one more hit to the list of his hit films with ‘Shadow’, releasing today, 26th April, 2013. Directed by Meher Ramesh on United Movies banner, the film also stars Taapsee, Srikanth and Madhurima in vital roles. Musical scores are rendered by SS Thaman. The perfectionist speaks about his film ‘Shadow’, present problems in the industry and future vision. Here are few excerpts:
Venkatesh started off his press conference speaking about ‘Shadow’. He said, “I’ve done several action films in the past. However, ‘Shadow’ will take me close to the generation today. The film will bring awareness among the youth like Yes, Venkatesh can impress the audience with action films too. The main reason to do multi-starrer films is to capture place in youth’s hearts.
Further he said, “There is tremendous response for ‘Shadow’ right from the time its first look was released. It’s a real summer entertainer blend with family drama. The story of ‘Shadow’ is on revenge format. The motor-bike chase scenes would grab the youth’s attention. This is a safe action film that would attract the mass and family audiences. Meher portrayed me very differently in this film. I will appear in several get-ups in ‘Shadow’. This is the fourth film in my combination with Srikanth. He played a very good role as a cop in this film. As known to all Thaman's music has already become big hit.”
Talking about how important is the script for the film’s success Venkatesh said, “I consider a movie to be hit if the director can narrate his story for five minutes without any confusion. I’ll be more happy if I can narrate the same to my friends and family members. But sometimes it happens so that the movie becomes hit despite the story being average. That depends on its release season. Of late, large number of theaters are being booked for big heroes in order to get the returns within one week of its release. One should not neglect stories just because they are getting their returns. Infact even I did mistake of doing couple of films in the past even though I did not like the stories.”
About doing films without bound script and budget control he opined, “Sometimes heroes make mistake of doing films without bound script for the reasons that the producer had already erected the set or being afraid of getting the call-sheets from heroines. When it comes to our compound, my dad always maintains a bound script and my brother too follows the same. Of late even Bollywood is following this method. They are also taking lot of care regarding the movie budget. We are yet to get awareness on bound scripts. Planning is also required in budget control. It’s very unhealthy to do films without planning. My brother is very keen to do films in different budgets on our banner soon. He is more excited and interested in DTH releases and digital movies.”
About Rana he commented, “Rana is perfect in choosing the script. He goes through each and every line in it. He is playing a good role in Rajamouli’s film. He has no language barrier. He just proceeds with the project if he likes the script.”
When asked about his upcoming films he replied, “Bol Bachchan script is fantastic. It’s a full-fledged comedy entertainer that would make the audience burst into laughter. My next would also be a mookie film under ‘Pilla Zamindaar’ Ashok’s direction. We are attempting a film without dialogues after 20 years. But this movie will be quite contrast to ‘Pushpaka Vimanam’. It will give a different experience for me as an actor. We will let you know more details shortly.”
