Tell us about your character in this film?
It was a good feeling. In real life I am very talkative, but the character in this film is calm personality. I love this scene where I tell my brother about the qualities I look in my husband.
So you like doing characters that connect with you?
During the audio release of my Tamil movie I was in tears as I connected so much with that character. I come from an orthodox Muslim family and I learnt classical dance as it was my passion. I like playing regular oles, romantic roles is not for me. I don’t like glamour too. I just do what the director tells me. In this film too I just did what the director told me. He asked me not to act as Poorna, but to think as Rani.
How was it working with the director and the hero?
Director Shiva Raj has talent. This is his debut film, but the way he has handled it is not as a débutante. I learnt a lot from him, he communicated perfectly and I was totally at ease with him. Hero Srinivas Reddy is a great co-star. Many times he corrected my Telugu.
Are you game to do item songs?
I did that in ‘Srimanthudu’ as I didn't mind doing a traditional dance number. I saw a poster of Mahesh Babu when I landed in Hyderabad and instantly fell in love with him. I am not game for regular item numbers.
