I have scenes with Pawan Kalyan sir in 'BRO': Priya Prakash Varrier

Priya Prakash Varrier, the 'National Crush' of 2018, hails from Kerala. In 'BRO', she will be seen in a relatively important role this July 28. The Malayalam actress is thrilled ahead of the release of the film starring Pawan Kalyan and Sai Dharam Tej. Directed by Samuthirakani, the fantasy comedy drama is Priya's first potential big break in Tollywood. In this interview, the young actress talks about her journey into the film, working with Power Star and more.

This is my third Telugu film. My first Telugu outing was 'Check', followed by 'ISHQ', in 2021.

'BRO' is a remake of 'Vinodhaya Sitham' (Tamil), which I watched even before this film came my way. More than a year ago, I attended a look-test session. I didn't get back any call for months after that. I jumped the gun and concluded that I was not selected. I then received a call earlier this year. Director Samuthirakani sir had considered a lot of girls before me for the role. It makes me happy that he felt I suit the role the most. Since he is an artist himself, he knows what he wants from his actors. It was amazing to work with him. It was certainly a really nice experience.

Sharing screen space with a legend like Pawan Kalyan sir was a great experience. There is this aura that he brings to set. When he walks into the set, there is a certain magic. Changes have been made to the original in accordance with PK sir's image. There is a new imagination. The film is longer than its original counterpart. The duration of my role is something I can't talk about now. But you will find me throughout the film now and then.

I have combination scenes with PK sir and Sai Dharam Tej. I played a simple, homely girl in the movie. I don't have the liberty to speak more about the role. Meena is the name of my character. This is a family film where everyone has scenes with everyone else.

I couldn't get to interact with PK sir much. I can't talk about my chemistry with Tej because that would be tricky (considering spoilers will be out). Tej was fun to be with. Whenever we were on set, we used to pull each other's legs. He was always a naughty child on set. Rohini ma'am, Ketika Sharma and a lot of us had the opportunity to bond with each other.

People Media Factory is the first big banner I have got to work with. They have been extremely supportive. They are always considerate and always accommodative.

I come from a family with absolutely no film background. The viral wink video in 2018 changed everything for me. People are familiar with me only because of that viral wink video. I don't think that video is a baggage in any manner. After that video, people started saying too many things. I got confused and made some missteps. I am now in a position to make the right moves on the career front. I have been associated with brands, thanks to my social media popularity. My childhood dream was to become an actor. I am working towards that.

I have two Hindi films coming up. I am listening to scripts in Malayalam. In Tamil, I am yet to do my maiden venture.
