Producer Singanamala Ramesh Babu today said that he made losses to the tune of Rs 100 Cr on Khaleja and Komaram Puli. Both movies were produced by him in the late 2000s.

"Back in the day, no movie would be under production for more than 9 months to one years. To my misfortune, Khaleja and Komaram Puli were in the making for three years for various reasons. Only I know how much I had to spend on interest on borrowed finance, salaries, maintaining the office, etc. I lost Rs 100 Cr," Ramesh Babu said.

The producer lamented that nobody pitied him. "I received no support from anybody," he said.

Ramesh Babu was accused of cheating and was jailed in a realty case. He spent years as an undertrial. He recently was acquitted by a court.

Ramesh Babu said that film financing in the 2000s wouldn't involve more than Rs 10-12 Cr of outgo even for movies starring big names. "Today, budgets have touched figures like Rs 200 Cr and Rs 300 Cr," he said.

Ramesh Babu's claim that he made losses to the tune of one billion on the movies of Mahesh Babu and Pawan Kalyan is incredible. He attributed Pawan getting busy with Praja Rajyam Party activities as one of the reasons for the inordinate delay in the completion of Komaram Puli.
